In this post, I’ll show you how to use AI to build a clean, effective resume tailored to any job you’re applying for, even if you don’t have years of experience.

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Tell AI Who You Are

Before ChatGPT can help you build your resume, it needs a clear picture of you. Here’s a simple way to prompt it:

Prompt to use:
I’m a recent graduate with a degree in [Your Degree]. I have basic skills in [list skills], and I want to apply for an entry-level role in [Job Role or Industry]. Can you help me write a resume that makes me stand out?

Even if you’ve never had a “real” job, ChatGPT can highlight:

  • Projects you did in school

  • Volunteering

  • Internships

  • Transferable skills like communication, teamwork, and time management

Step 2: Use AI to Tailor Your Resume to a Job

One of the biggest mistakes job seekers make is sending the same resume everywhere. That’s where AI can save you hours.

Prompt to use:
Here’s the job description for a role I’m applying for: [paste job ad]. Can you help me tailor my resume to fit this specific job?

ChatGPT will suggest changes that include key phrases from the job listing, improving your chances of getting past automated systems like ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems).

If you prefer something visual, you can upload the content into a Canva resume template in just a few clicks.
